PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

As noted in the Minutes of the Annual Meeting the Region is in far better shape going into 2008 than it was at this time last year. The 2007 Board of Directors definitely deserve our thanks for leading us through the financial woes left over from 2006 when we did not have as good results in our Chance Car project as we had in prior years. The Directors developed a budget that brought this Region back on its feet and in 2007 we ended with a substantial surplus. The surplus has allowed us to purchase our 2008 Chance Car and now the 2008 budget looks to be both manageable and flexible

The most difficult problem for the Region is recruiting members to serve as Event Chairpersons and volunteering to work at WPR events. I still wonder why members sometimes do not show support by just participating in more events. The bad news is that our members are getting older and we need some new blood to chair and participate in planning our activities. It is always good to go to the meetings and see our old friends but we need those of us who are active members to speak to the other members to become more active again. We need to develop new activities such as the Fun Cruise and Swap Meet to get out there and meet and recruit some energetic new members. Along those lines, we welcomed several new members to the region this year, and I am hopeful that this trend will continue There are also a number of new activities in the planning stages for this year so let’s get active.
