MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT     Harvey Eger

Well here it is, the middle of September already, and I, for one, would like to know where the summer went.   It was a great summer though, filled with a number of  fun- filled activities.  I would personally like to thank those Members who worked so hard on planning  those activities for the Club.  Thanks also to those who turned out to enjoy our outings, because they, too,  helped to make those events both fun and a success.  The calendar still has a few more dates circled, and I hope that each of you will make an effort to participate as we wind down the season.

Speaking of participation, our “First Annual Show & Sale” swap meet, car corral and craft fest is rapidly taking shape.  I am starting to get calls from vendors on a daily basis, thanks to our advertising campaign, and I expect that many  people will just show up on the morning of the Meet.  There are a lot of people who have expressed the hope that this event will catch on, since we really don’t have any large swap meets in Western PA.    I can’t predict how this event will turn out, but we are planting seeds for the future.  It may take a couple of years make this venture a success, but I am confident that it will turn out to be a wonderful thing for the Region.

The Swap Meet is scheduled for the Westmoreland Fairgrounds on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 28-30, 2007, from 8 AM to 4:30 or so.  We will need a lot of help, so if you can give us a few hours, please let me know.  I expect that the mornings will be the busiest times, especially when the vendors come in, so try and make some time to lend a hand.  We will also be planting signs around the area at the end of next week, and will need some help with that as well.

In addition to the parts flea market and car corral, we have added crafters for the ladies.  Refreshments will also be available.  We are also planning a car cruise on Saturday afternoon, in the hopes of drawing more people to the Fairgrounds.  Whether you come to help, or just want to look around, we plan to have a special parking area for Members to display their cars.  All in all, we hope that there will be something for everyone to enjoy.  Please help make this another Western PA Region event we can all be proud of.
