PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Here it is, 7:00 PM, on March 11, and it’s still “light” out. Whoever came up with the idea of moving Daylight Savings Time up sure gets my vote. Makes me want to get out and start cleaning off the cars. It won’t be long before we will be out touring around, going to the cruises and taking a few trips. The arrival of Daylight Savings Time always makes me feel better. How about you?

Of course, the beginning of a new season for WPR does raise some concerns. If we are to continue the same events as we have held in the past, we will need everyone’s help. I know most of you don’t feel you have time to commit to “chair” an event, but maybe you can find time to work on an event. Please pitch in and volunteer when we ask for people to volunteer.

The Founders Tour Committee held its first meeting on February 26, and despite the snow, I think we had a pretty good turn out. Under the leadership of Howard Finney things are starting to come together, but we still need a lot of help to make the Tour a success. I believe the next meeting is March 25, at the Sheraton at 7:30. All are welcome to attend. Please join us and sign up to work on the tour.

I would like to see us have at least one “day Tour” a month beginning in April, but we need your help in coming up with ideas. If you have an Idea for a destination, or some countryside you think we might enjoy, get in touch with Marianne Caruso, who will be out Tout Director for the coming year. As for weekend trips, we are still planning to go to Blackwater Falls, WV over the 4th of July, with Mark and Dee Harper leading the trip. He Arthritis Foundation Car Cruise and Show is the second weekend in July and Charlie Schifano is heading up that trip. Charlie is also leading the trip to Macungie the first weekend in August. Rooms for both Dublin and Macungie are at a premium so be sure to get in touch with Charlie as soon as possible if you would like to go.   (continued on Page 5)
