FROM THE EDITOR

We started September off with a bang and ended it the same way. The 44th annual car show on September 2nd went off very well and our first ever Swap Meet / Car Corral on September 28, 29 & 30 was also quite successful. Most of the details concerning the annual Car Show can be found in this issue of the Round-Up but we are still putting together the details on the Swap Meet. I’m sure you will hear all about the Swap Meet at the October meeting and we will have more information in the November issue of the Round-Up.

Concerning the show there is not really anything I can add to the report of Carol Calabrace. I definitely have to agree with her “WOW”. The weather, the Chance Car winners, the high quality cars entered in the meet and the effort of our members who worked the meet were all the greatest. Included in this issue you can find the listing of the winners and the cars they had entered in the 25 various classes as well as special prize winners and the list of those who were Event Sponsors. We could not have a show without the sponsors and those who come out to show their cars and tell us that this is their favorite yearly show.

I’m a relative greenhorn in all of this car stuff even though I have had gray hair for quite a few years. I have to admit that the Swap Meet / Car Corral thing had me skeptical and somewhat worried but to me, it sure looked successful, especially for a first year event. Of course the big thing is how the various vendors and buyers felt about our effort. I personally heard very few grumbles and a great number of good remarks with encouraging words like; “we really need something like this in this area” to “are you going to do this next year?” and “can I get my same spot for next year”. I am looking forward to what President Harvey has to say when everything gets tabulated. Just like the Annual Show this event requires club manpower to carry it off. We need to get behind it if it is to become a real on going success.
