President’s Message: When I sit down to write my monthly President’s Message, I start with a blank page. Unfortunately, the “blank page” has much more significance to me than it did a year ago. This year, I am looking at several blank pages, while last year, those pages were full of names. If you were at this year’s Annual Meeting, you should know what I’m talking about. If you didn’t make it, I won’t hold you in suspense: WE NEED YOUR HELP IF WE ARE GOING TO HAVE PARTIES AND A PICNIC THIS YEAR. That’s right, unless some of you come forward and agree to chair the Kick-Off Party, the Picnic, and the Christmas Party, there might not be a picnic or a party to go to. Here’s your chance to change what you didn’t like about one or more of last year’s events, by offering to chair one of these planning committees. You can take the conservative route, and repeat what was done last year or the year before, or you can use your imagination and come up with something new. But, unless at least three of you are willing to step forward, I’m afraid the rest of us may be disappointed. We’re not talking about a lot of time here, folks to plan one of these events. Certainly not the amount of time that goes into our Annual Chance Car Raffle, Serving as Tour Chairman, or planning the Car Show. They are the really time consuming jobs that run the course of the entire year. The good news is that we have some very dedicated, hard working Members who have already agreed to handle those events. But as for the parties and the picnic, we have no volunteers as yet. As I said, there isn’t that much to do in terms of planning one of these events. Except for the Christmas Party, you don’t even have to pick the location. That’s one less thing to worry about. I know that there are more than three Members out there who can find the time to plan these events. Talk to some other Members, form a small group and divide up the work. C’mon, get involved…it’s your Club, too.
