President’s Message

Well, here it is, the middle of March already.  The birds are singing, the sun is shining and the temperature is going up.  The cars are getting restless.  Our “Kick-off” party is a few short weeks away, and the swap meets are getting ready to open.  What a welcome change.

I guess the first swap meet is North Washington Fireman’s’, but I can’t find any information about the date.  If you know when it’s to happen, let me know.  Bill Savage’s Swap Meet is set for the 13, 14 and 15 of April, followed by Carlisle and Canfield the following two weekends.

Speaking of the Kick-off party, no one seemed to want to chair that event this year, so we are going to try something different.  We are planning to go to the Lamplighter Restaurant for dinner and an “oldies band” on April 14.  Plan to get there around 7 PM for dinner.  We will order off the menu, and separate checks will be provided.  If you don’t want dinner, they have salads and sandwiches too.  (Keep in mind there is an $8.00 minimum per person to cover the entertainment).  Use the form in this month’s Roundup to make a reservation.  IF YOU PLAN ON COMING PLEASE MAKE A RESERVATION. IF YOU MAKE A RESERVATION, PLEASE COME.    They can put the first 50 people together; the rest will be scattered throughout the dining room; so reserve early.

Last, but not least, congratulations are in order for Editor Dick McKelvey and Webmaster Mark DeFloria, who both received AACA Awards of Excellence for the Roundup and WPR Website, respectively.  Keep up the good work.

One more thing:  the Chance Car tickets are ready, and so is the car.  Call Stan and Eleanor Kanick for tickets and scheduling.                  Harvey Eger
