Westmoreland Fairgrounds Swap Meet:
The 2008 Swap Meet was held at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds on September 19,
20 & 21. Harvey Eger, Chair of the event, presented a report on the Meet.
Basically, the WPR did not do as well this year as we did the previous year.
This was attributed to the increased cost of usage in the rentals at the
Fair Grounds. In addition we spent more on advertising, which did pay off by
increasing attendance 4 fold and drawing a Saturday high of 65 vendors as
compared to 45 at last year’s meet.
Looking ahead next year the club officers will have to sit down with the
Fair Grounds Board of Directors in an effort to renegotiate terms of our
agreement since the meet is not growing fast enough to keep pace with the
increasing rental charges.
The President thanked everyone for their efforts in making the meet a
success. Everyone who worked at the meet is to be awarded a dash plaque and
a meet “T” shirt. See Bob Inhoff to pick up these items.
