I turned my clocks back last night making it official; our season has come
to a close. I know most of us will be putting our cars away for the winter,
and we’ll be thinking of what we are going to do to fill our time during the
next several months. If you are like me, you have at least one project you
have been putting off, and this winter will be a good time to get that
project finished. Since I have a number of things to work on, I can at least
take a vow to finish one of them.
Once again, we had a very successful car show, thanks to the hard work of
the folks in yellow shirts. Not only was it a great show, and perhaps the
biggest we ever had, but it was financially successful too. It’s been
several years now that the car show has turned a profit for us, and everyone
who played a part in making it a success deserves a pat on the back.
For the second year in a row, the Swap Meet also turned a profit, although
it was not as big a profit as we had hoped. We had an increase in the number
of vendors, as well as an n increase in the number of spectators, but the
Swap Meet is growing much slower than expected. Again, the success of the
Swap Meet was due to the hard work of the folks in the yellow shirts that
worked very hard over the three-day event.
Looking ahead, we have two events coming up in December, a trip to the
Cochran house in Dawson for Christmas Dinner on the 4th, and our annual
Christmas Party on the 20th. Both events promise to be a lot of fun, so mark
your calendars and plan to attend.
Our 2009 Western PA Region Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, January 31. This year we
plan to give our past presidents special recognition, so I hope we will have
a good turnout.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
