A lot has been going on these last few weeks .The WPR Board met on April 10, and agreed to give any Member who sells at least 100 Chance Car Tickets two free tickets to our Annual Christmas Party. Any Member who sells at least 50 Chance Car Tickets will receive one free ticket to the Christmas Party. Those free tickets may only be used by a Member; a guest will not be permitted to use a free ticket. Discussion of any other discounts for the Christmas Party based upon the number of Chance Car Tickets sold was postponed until later in the year, after we see how Chance Car Tickets are selling. The Board also approved the purchase of space at the Heritage Festival, the Westmoreland County Fair and the Derry Ag. Fair for the Chance Car. Members interested in taking the car for any of those events should contact Charlie Schifano. Our Kickoff Party was held on April 12, under the direction of Sally Wirick and Molly Detwiler. It was a huge success, with 71 Members present. Foodarama of Madison provided the food; the Laurel Harmony Chorus of Sweet Adeline provided the entertainment; and our Members enjoyed a pleasant evening of fun and conversation. If you weren't there, you certainly missed a great evening. Thanks again to Sally and Molly. P.S.: Al and Chris also deserve a hand for their help, too. Our monthly meeting was held on April 15, and we had a good turnout. Bob Shugars presented a program on things to do to get your car ready for summer and to keep it running smoothly. At that meeting we resumed adding the balance of the 50-50 raffle to the "kitty". Eleanor Kanick's name was drawn, but she was not present. The kitty will start out next month at $38.50. Remember, you must be present in order to claim the kitty if your name is drawn. The Founder's Tour Committee meets on the 22nd of April, and I hope to see more of our Members present. Although it is still two years away, there is a lot of work to do this year. Please see our Chairman, Howard Finney, if you can help. Speaking of help, I desperately need one or two Members to assume responsibility for advertising for the Swap Meet. Now is the time to start placing ads and ordering signs. Please let me know if you can help. Finally, we are looking for someone to take charge of the Annual Car Show. We have a lot of people who work on the Car Show to make it the success that it is, and I am sure that everyone who has worked in the past will continue to do so. What we need is someone to take over has chairman. Again, please let me know if you can help. Harvey Eger 3 |
