A LONG YEAR FOR ONE OF OUR PAST PRESIDENTS

In February 2007 Timothy A Smith (Tim) a past WPR President, had an Industrial Accident. Tim was shocked with a 440 Volt Power Line.

This resulted in his being deaf in one ear and a 50% hearing loss in the other ear. He lost control of his equilibrium and easily falls off balance. Tim must use a cane to walk. He is not allowed to operate any mechanical device including driving a car.

He will never be able to work and is on Social Security Disability. In spite of all of this, he still maintains a good outlook on life and he misses everyone in the club.

(A Note from Jim Smith, Tim’s Father)

Tim the club very much misses you and your presence at our meetings.

We also pass along prayers and best wishes to a number of our member families who have suffered losses and injuries during the last month. Those we are aware of include the Erny, Rusnock, Caruso, Milligan, Ulishney and Brant families, who have all lost loved ones since our last meeting. In addition Carol Calabrace has fallen and suffered a broken leg and has started recuperation at the Mt View Care Center. It has been a long winter and all of these families so please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

HUPMOBILES COMING TO LATROBE ?

I recently saw an article in one of the Car Magazines or Papers that the National Hupmobile Club may be coming to Latrobe for some kind of an event in 2009. I sent an email off to their on line address and I did get an answer.

The Hupmobile Club is having a meet in Topeka, Kansas this year to celebrate the 100th year of the founding of the Hupp Motor Car Co. It is a week long event during the last week in June. Steve Christie said there is a scheduled event to be held in Latrobe but that there have not been any dates or detailed planning completed as of this date. I imagine that they are putting everything into the meet this year.
